One thing is clear to me – the Hochalm trail is every biker’s dream.
The name says everything: „hoch“ (high) means a great view in the mountains. „Alm“ (parture) means above tree level wich means flow, style and the best views ever.
To get to the Hochalm Trail, the best way is to cover the first 500 vertical metres by taking the Reiterkogel lift. The route then goes past the Roßwaldhütte, and then up towards the Reichkendlkopf and to the Spieleckkogel.
Once you have managed this climb, you are rewarded by a seemingly endless ride down through the wonderful scenery of the grassy mountains of Pinzgau, along a route that has a bit of everything that trailbikers love: steep passages, stream crossings, sharp turns, rooty and stony sections. The finish is in the bottom of the valley, from where you can ride back leisurely to Saalbach Hinterglemm.
