„Oldy but goldy“ – the mature mountain bike trail in Saalbach
The Hackelberg Trail is classic among the trails in Saalbach Hinterglemm. It was the first mountain bike trail that was opened for mountainbikers. It starts right at the Westgipfelhütte on the Schattberg Westgipfel and ends at the Hackelberg Alm.
Along the trail there is flow, fun and action and amazing views into the mountains of Saalbach Hinterglemm. Speed is your friend on the Hackelberg Trail, there are no obstacles or difficulties along the way. In the lower section there are a few narrow turns –be prepared to use your brakes in time.
The Hackelberg trail has been reconstructed recently. Until 2010 the trail was used by hikers and bikers. Now the trail is just for bikers and the hikers are supposed to use a different route. The numbers of bikers grew constantly, so the Hackelberg Trail now is pure bike pleasure.
The trail offers a great bike feeling from start to end. With jumps, curves and much flow it puts a smile on the face of every biker. The trail ends right on the patio of the Hackelberg Alm, which is the best spot for a drink and a snack.
After the Hackelberg Alm you take a few meters of gravel road, before the Buchegg Trail starts and offers the right finish of an amazing bike ride in Saalbach Hinterglemm.
